Victims: The Orphans of Justice
Victims: The Orphans of Justice was an investigative look at Canada’s criminal justice system from the perspective of victims.
It was an eye-opener, not only in terms of the poor treatment of victims and their survivors, but in how the National Parole Board and federal Correctional Services operated. The book led to Jerry’s column Justice For All in the Toronto Sunday Sun. The book tells the story of an ex-cop whose eldest daughter was murdered by an offender just released from penitentiary, and how he formed a national organization called Victims of Violence which provided services for crime victims and brought about new rights for victims.
